Pill – P-Type
RELEASE DO ARTISTA:
English
In his second work at Psicotropicodelia, Mario “Pill” Cavalcanti follows his gamemaniac logic, “going many stages further” when compared to the MU.S.GA EP.
With 13 tracks and less than 20 minutes long, “P-Type” delivers a much more varied – and superior – mixture of references: 8-Bit/ Chiptunes, Electro, Breakbeat, interludes with one foot in minimalist electronica [Ambient and Dark Synths], Hardcore Oldschool Techno, Rave-Era Techno/House, etc.
Amusing, criative and without “frills”, this mini-album is [also in its artwork, with simulates the visual from cd/cartridge games] one more item that sucessfully unites a soundtrack-y concept and [good] experimental e-music.
ARTIST RELEASE
Pill launches EP inspired by shoot’em up games.
Three years after the release of “MU.S.GA – Music for Strategy Games” EP, brazilian electronic and game music project Pill is back to the scene and now presents its new work, “P-Type”, a collection of insane and conceptual tracks inspired by shoot’em up games.
The new release, a notable homage to classic shoot’em up series like Gradius and R-Type, was organised suggesting tracks for different stages of a space adventure, including themes for level bosses and hidden stages.
The tracks combine the same kind of elements found in other songs by Pill, like short-lenghth with heavy synths and strong bassbeats.
Curious? Just listen, mind your own space adventure and make all this without need to insert coins! ;-)

eu cheguei a baixar o EP anterior dele, baixei ja esse P-type, bem old school, referencias mil a R-type e Gradius…
That album rocks!
Straight from start after the short intro track, “Moai Zone” stomps its breaking beats in your ears. “Select Player” seems like a fill-in, while “Kamikaze” is an over-the-top speed track — too much in my taste. “Cave Zone” could be from Mario’s ghost house.

After listening to all tracks I prefer the track Maoi Zone; it is well balanced between beats, bass and harmonies. Soldier of Speccy is a nice 8bit-outro.
Sensacional
